QUESTION

What do I do if my ex burned my things?

Asked on Feb 19th, 2014 on Personal Injury - Idaho
More details to this question:
My girlfriend and I broke up a couple weeks ago. I called her a week and a half ago to see when I could get my things back and she said she burned them. They are solely mine and I paid for all of them although I have no receipts or anything of that sort.

You can sue her in small claims court for the damages. Make a list of the items and estimated cost, number of years you had them, condition before burned, estimated fair market value when destroyed.

Sue her. Depending on the value of the items, you may be in small claims court. You must prepare a complete inventory of all of the items, the original cost, the age and the value as of the time of the incident. If you get a judgment, you can garnishee up to 10% of her take-home pay until it is paid up.
