What does it mean "multiplier" when figuring out a settlement?

More details to this question:
I was in a car accident, car was totaled, had to get surgery a fusion done. And I tell you I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Now my doctor saying he sees something else. We're know if anything else is wrong soon just had my second MRI. Around what number anyone thinks my multiplier should be?
