You stopped, let your name and insurance carrier info? What did you do? What did you do? In any event pay the damage an d the problem will likely go away. Get you a good traffic court lawyer if you are charged. Misdemeanor is no big deal (no personal injury that is).

Go to the police agency having authority over the road, and make a report now. Tell them you were afraid to stop on the roadway.

The punishment is dependent on who issues the charges. The points against your driver's license is the same not matter who charges you. It is a 12 point violation which equates to a one year suspension.
