I had an open displaced fracture. A couple days later, I had surgery to have the bone realigned. I have had approximately $10,000 in medical bills.

If you handle on your own insurance company will offer you very little. If you have only cosmetic damage and everything healed in will be smaller value, may be $10,000 neighborhood. We would need more information. Any work loss, degree of pain over what period, activities could not do and for how long. First contact the insurance company to see what the limits of liability are.
