QUESTION

What type of lawyer do I need?

Asked on Dec 03rd, 2015 on Automobile Accidents - New York
More details to this question:
I was in a car accident on 11/23/15. I already have a personal injury lawyer that is handling my case in that aspect. However, the man who hit me is trying to blame me. He is stating that his vehicle was parked and I slammed into it meanwhile in reality he tried to turn in front of me but turned into me. A police officer witnessed the entire accident and said that the man did not look to see if I was coming. I need a lawyer to help defend me against his allegations and possibly sue the man who hit me for money to replace my totaled car. I am a full time college student and I am working with a tight budget. A contingency lawyer would be best. I do not know what type of lawyer would handle a case like this.

Contact your auto insurance company. They should provide an attorney to defend you. If you have a copy of the police report get it to your insurance company with any other documentation you have including the name and contact information of the officer who witnessed the incident. Continue to seek medical help if necessary. You can also ask the attorney handling your personal injury claim to answer any questions you may have.
