Hi, I hope everyone is well this evening. Quick question. I was responding to a 911 emergency in my Personal Vehicle for my Volunteer Fire Company. Got to the scene pulled my truck of the road 2-3 ft. and my front right tire dropped into an unmarked 1.5ft hole created by the county for drainage. My truck sank immediately back left tire lifted off the ground and I had to be pulled out. I have damage to my right side running board, its bent and needs to be replaced. Also the grass was mowed flush over the hole so it was invisible till my truck tire hit it. Again, this is 2-3 Ft off the road. Is the county DPW liable. I live in Dutchess County, NY. Thank you
Your volunteer fire company should be insured for legitimate claims arising out of your public service.
