QUESTION

Why is credit collection services still billing me?

Asked on Aug 11th, 2013 on Personal Injury - Rhode Island
More details to this question:
I hit someone backing out from parking lot, I made a copy of my identification card and she didn't give me her information. I hit her driver side door and she said to give her $1500 to replace it and she won't report it. I have hit someone before and I reported to the police and the insurance billed me $13, 000, I had no insurance either. My license was suspended too. Since I couldn't pay the $13,000 upfront, they sent my information to credit collection services, itโ€™s an agency that keeps billing me and adding money on top of what I already owe.

Driving with out a license is dumb. Driving without insurance is dumb. The money you saved by not having insurance is now going to be spent paying for a lawyer.

As I understand it, you hit someone and their insurance company paid the damage which was $13,000.00, and believes you owe them reimbursement for that amount (and they are probably right). They keep billing you because you still owe the money and they hope you'll pay. Unless the debt has been reduced to a judgment, they cannot take on additional expenses.

I assume it is because you have not paid for the damage you caused. The 13000 may represent personal injury about which you probably know nothing. I assume you were sued or will be your license may be at state as well as collection efforts continuing.
