In summary, my brother was initially in the hospital for what was thought to be a mild heart attack. After his stay he spent some time at a rehab facility. He left that facility with a rash which as he explained was caused by rubber underwear as they did not want him to soil the bed. After her left the facility he was allowed a visiting nurse, a home help aid and the rash was being treated by his primary care physician, Dr. Dermer. He was given a topical cream. Anyway, about 6 weeks later and a few weeks after his last appointment with Dr Dermer he was rushed by ambulance to ER and went to CCU. Apparently the rash has gotten so badly infected, that he became septic and needed emergency surgery to remove as much of the infected area as possible to minimize the infection immediately This was the beginning of the end. As the infection was systematic and was the apparent catalyst for his organs to deteriorate. His liver kidneys and lungs eventually all shut down and he dies last Weds.
I am very sorry for your loss. It is entirely possible that your brother was misdiagnosed, and then mistreated. The doctor might have missed the infection. If you contact my office I might be able to provide you with some suggestions.
