Hi I had a lease with my ex fiancé and we got out of the lease because we broke up. the down payment was paid by me from my savings account but the land lord gave him half of the down payment he should of never took the money because it was mine I have all the prices but since the landlord is a very good friends of him they both stole half of my down payment I need a letter demanding that my ex refunds me for 1500 which was half the deposit I can. Whether or not the LL should have returned the security to you or your roomate is governed by the lease. In any event, you are still entitled to have your share of the depost returned to you by your roommate. Consider hiring a lawyer to write him an email or a letter threatening litigation to get him to return the money.
