Am I leagally responsible for a mortgage if my name is only on the deed?

The house my go into foreclosure or do a short sell. How does this effect me if I'm only on the deed?

you will be part of the foreclosure complaint as a defendant because you have an interest in the party, but will not be responsiblefor the mortgage unless the mortgage is in your name.
