Am I responsible to pay maintenance fees on this timeshare?

Asked on Mar 29th, 2013 on Real Estate - Colorado
More details to this question:
My ex- husband received the timeshare, purchased in Mexico, as part of the settlement. He died. I am now receiving letters and phone calls from a collection agency for unpaid maintenance fees. Do I have to pay them? He lived in Pennsylvania. I live in Colorado.

Charyl,   Your question leaves me with a lot of questions.  Did you jointly purchase the condo?  Did your ex- receive possession of the condo as part of your divorce settlement?  Was your name ever removed from title?   I'll presume that since the debt collectors are calling you that your name is still on title.  I'm not exactly sure how it works in Mexico, but I suspect that if you do not pay the fees that your failure will be reported on your credit and eventually the condo will be repossessed by creditor.  If these things do not bother you then you do not need to pay the maintenance fees. I hope this helps.
