My pregnant fiance and I have lived in this one room cottage since april and never missed a rent payment. We just recently had a change in management for the rental property. The new landlady is incredibly rude and is constantly putting notices on tenants doors. Just this week we have received 8 notices. Multiple for allegedly having people living here when we dont. Ive tried multiple time to explain this to the landlady but she refuses to listen. Also we just received two puppies and apparently that is also a problem even though almost every other resident has multiple dogs and cats bigger than ours. So today she told me all I had to do was pay the pet deposit of $200 by tuesday and then just an hour later she hands us an eviction notice written on a compliance sheet and a sticky note that says we must be out by the third of sept.
Yes, you can fight this overbearing landlord. Hopefully your lease allows you to recover attorney fees when you defeat her eviction complaint.
You should contact an attorney as it does not seem that your landlord knows what she is doing with regard to legally evicting a tenant.
Good Luck!
