Can i sue for liable and defamation

More details to this question:
I received and e-mail from our property manager accusing me and my husband of grand theft. It said it had multiple home owners who saw us removing tools and equiptment from a storage shed on the property. When the old owners who sold the property called them to tell them the pictures she had were taken before the closing of the property and said items were given to us by Her.

There is no defamation when the statements are made directly to you. Defamation only occurs with statements made to others that affect your reputation.
