Can someone keep your stuff from you??

More details to this question:
My husband and I recently became homeless and a friend offer us to stay in his back yard and we told him it would be temporary and would be moving come spring, and we have moved a few of our stuff.he has co-compliance on him because of us and we have moved two trucks and a trailer out, which was part of the problem and he says he is fine$280 which he doesn't have, they fine his but doesn't have yet, so can he legally take and keep our stuff????

shot answer no it sounds like your stuff caused the fine if so, you should pay him but he cannot keep your stuff, that is illegal and he can be sued if does best to work things out
