Do I have a case, and if so, how do I proceed?

Asked on Oct 06th, 2017 on Landlord and Tenant Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Yesterday, my landlord handed me a written notice to vacate my apartment by November 1st. It was dated October 4th, but it was handed to me on October 5th. According to New Jersey law, a minimum of 30 days is required for notice, but this is less than 30 days.

If this is a notice to quit, the landlord still has to file an eviction complaint in court. But you are entitled o thirty days notice unless it is for nonpayment of rent. But the landlord would have to file in court. There is no time minimum requirement for nonpayment but minimum of 30 for any other causes for eviction.
