QUESTION

Do i have a case for adverse possession?

Asked on Sep 07th, 2016 on Real Estate - Michigan
More details to this question:
I have lived at this residence in Michigan for 16 years. The title to the house is currently in my fathers name. It was my grandfathers house before he passed away. I have over 10 years of documented property tax payments that I have paid myself. When I moved in, the house was unoccupied and literally just a shack. I have made it a home. I had to have a new well and septic put in. Including adding a second story and doing many many improvements to not only the house but the property as well. There is 40 acres. My father and I have not spoke in 5 years. He has not done anything at all to maintain or improve the property in the entire 16 years. I recieved a certified letter in the mail yesterday stating he was selling it and i had 7 days to respond with a decision or else he had another buyer. Can he legally do this or can I aquire the property by quiet title or adverse possession?
