QUESTION

Do I have any legal recourse?

Asked on Oct 12th, 2023 on Landlord and Tenant Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I asked my landlord to move my garage to a specific one that was closer to my unit. She said the one I wanted wasn’t available but offered another unit. When I pressed further, she replied: “Per our last conversation that garage I have available is 10-2. Please let me know if you would like to make the change. I also wanted to bring to your attention that anyone in your apartment that stays over 14 consecutive days and over the age of 18 needs to be added to the lease. We can send her the link to apply, but Catherine will need to be removed. Per occupancy guidelines is 2 people per bedroom and you are in a one bedroom.” The property manager was eluding to a companion I had visiting for a period of time that was not yet against my lease terms. That evening, the manager’s vehicle was parked in front of the garage in question (she lives on property). It fees as though she was attempting to intimidate me with retaliatory action to push me away from pressing for that garage.

Legal recourse to do what exactly?Unless there is an entitlement to a garage of your choosing there is no legal recourse for what you describe. If you have an unauthorized guest  - thats a separate issue altogether.
