QUESTION

Does false corporation name void lease?

Asked on Jan 18th, 2016 on Landlord and Tenant Law - Texas
More details to this question:
I have been having conflicts with my apartment since I moved in with them trying to say I have not paid bills that I have paid, and have provided proof that I paid. I am fed up and want to terminate my lease, but the manager claims I have to pay out my lease term. I want to speak to the owner or person ahead of her and she refuses so I looked up the name of the owner (or the owners corporation) and the name listed is incorrect, it brings up another corporation not affiliated with the apartments. The name is just 4 letters with the middle 2 being switched from the name listed and the actual corporation. Does this void my contract?

The different name probably does not void your contract. At the end of the day, you made an obligation to somebody to pay rent. You have been paying rent to that somebody, regardless of the name stated on the paper. With that being said, the property manager must tell you who the owner of the complex is.
