QUESTION

House Closing

Asked on Jan 06th, 2017 on Residential Real Estate - New Jersey
More details to this question:
After you close on a house sale, how many days do you have to be out and if you are not out within that time can the new owners come with police and put you out? I want to know what my options are. We are closing on the sale of our house within a few weeks, we asked the new owner to let us stay 30 days after the closing date which he refused. we need the money from our sale to buy a new place to live which we have found, but that sale and closing needs at least 3 weeks.

Once you close on the house, you no longer own it and have to get out.  There is no waiting period.  You've sold the house and the new owners have the right to occupy it.  You can sometimes enter into an agreement with the new owners but that is entirely up to the new owners.
