QUESTION

How does a tenant get an occupant to vacate the premises?

Asked on Jul 25th, 2016 on Landlord and Tenant Law - Texas
More details to this question:
My boyfriend moved in with me several months ago, and recently we moved to a bigger house. On the new lease, I am the only lease holder (the only one that signed anyway), but I had him listed as an occupant so I would not get in trouble with having an unauthorized person living in my home. He has not worked for the better part of the year and has become verbally abusive. I have asked him to leave several times, but he refuses. What is the easiest/fastest way to get him to leave without displacing myself and children? Would a 3 day notice to vacate from me suffice since he is only an occupant and he has not contributed to rent or utilities?

You can follow the procedure for eviction starting with the notice to vacate. You may also need to get a protective order of he's abusive. Contact your county District Attorney to find out the procedure.
