How long do i have to file small claims suit?

More details to this question:
Date of vandalism by plaintiff - about a year ago; I'm filing for damages to property and for month (January, 2013) of unpaid rent per signed lease. I'm the landlord; suing tenant. Thank you!

The general statute of limitations is 3 years.  However, many things effect this and it could be considerably longer or shorter depending upon the facts of the case.   Good luck with your money damages claim.   Don Eby
