More details to this question:
I'm the seller. My property is in California. I live in Illinois. My realtor did not disclose staging fees to me BEFORE her stager did the work. Nor did the stager. Now they are expecting me to pay the portion that exceeds what the realtor had agreed to reimburse. Neither the realtor or stager disclosed the staging fees upfront. We have now approached to the point of closing and the issue is not resolved. Who's at fault? Do I have the pay the remaining balance of the staging fees even though they were never disclosed to me. The stager and realtor discussed what was needed to stage my home without involving me. Who is responsible for paying the remaining balance of the staging fees. My realtor is threatening me that I should pay otherwise there will be financial repercussions if I hold up the closing.
This is a very small issue to hold up the sale of the home. You can pay the staging fees under protest, and then after the sale you can sue in small claims court for up to $10,000.
