More details to this question:
The first week we moved into our new apartment there was no hot water, once there was hot water it would take 10 minutes to become hot. Now when the water gets hot, there is no cold water available in the unit for 10 minutes. This is not what we expected when we moved in and the landlord is being difficult about being let out of the lease.

What you describe is not suffiicent tp break a lease as a general rule. The law requires HOT water be provided not cold water. You probably need to hire a lawyer to send a 7 day repair letter to the LL and see where it goes from there.
