QUESTION

Should I be given notice?

Asked on Jun 22nd, 2013 on Residential Real Estate - Colorado
More details to this question:
I signed an "Extension of lease" June 2012 for 12 mos, set to expire on June 30th, 2013. The letter was dated June 5th 2012. I have contacted the leasing company about extending the current lease and have gotten no response. They have not contacted me in any way to say once my lease expires this month I'm out, or to say I can stay. Are they required by law to notify me one way or another? Or can they just evict me as of June 30th 2013?

If your lease has a specific end date, 30 June 2013, then no notice is required, it is assumed that you will be out by the end of that day, or the landlord may elect to begin the eviction process or accept your rent on a month to month basis.   Your landlord is not acting in a manner consistent with good business practices, but he or she is not breaking the law either.   Hope that helps, Don Eby  303-688-0944
