QUESTION

Utility Charges

Asked on Jun 18th, 2020 on Landlord and Tenant Law - Florida
More details to this question:
Our former apartment complex is charging us for electricity after we turned in keys early due to covid and work. Our lease ended on the 14th and we turned keys in on the 9th of May. They want $124 for electricity which is higher than any bill we had and for that of time is ridiculous. Do we have to pay it?

If its a bill you owe you owe what you owe. You can dispute the amount - but the best bet to protect your credit is to pay it and rety to get a refund if you overpaid.

If you didn't pay the electic bill  - and you owe it - you owe what you owe. If you want to fight about the value, you can, but to protect your credit best to do that AFTER you pay the money under proytest looking for a refund.
