Water damage occurred to my son's apartment from water leaking from above. He has just told me that he has to arrange the repairs himself, as the management company are claiming they have nothing to do with this issue. Along with living room furniture the flooring was also damaged; so he has been told to arrange by himself the removal of all the furniture and the replacement of the damaged floor and furniture. I told him to get a lawyer, but he is worried about more expense. To my mind, with an issue like this, where there is no personal responsibility for what happened, as an innocent party there must be some recourse against those responsible for what happened. Are there any specific actions he should take in order ensure everything is returned to the original condition before the water damage occurred. Thank you
He needs to make a written claim to management, and end it with a threat to sue. The owner's insurance should cover this, but there needs to be a claim.
