I bought a mobile home may 24th of this year. Prior to buying, the park manager never gave me any type of papers to sign stating any rules. Before buying my home, I told her I liked the home because it had a yard for my dog. She did not ask about my dog or state any rules about having dogs in the park. I moved in July 1st of this year and paid the lot fee. The woman still did not give me any type of paper work on park rules. After 20 days of living in my home, she saw my dog and stated that I could not have him. I asked her why and told her that I had not known about this prior to moving in. After talking with her three times in person, she stated something about her honeymoon and hadn't had time. I would have never have bought the home if I knew any of this before. I told her from the start I had a dog. She stated I had not told her then. As I was trying to talk to her, she got into her car and drove away. What should I do about handling this since she never once brought any of this to me when I was looking to buy and waited until I bought the home and paid my lot rent? I want to again state that I own my mobile home and that the park manager never once had me sign or give me park rules prior to moving in until after money was spent. I did tell her about my dog prior to buying my home and if I had be made aware of the rules on my pet being too big, I would have not bought the home and would of kept looking but now it is too late and money has been spent.
If your landlord does not want your dog there, you can't have the dog there. You can probably break the lease based upon these facts and move somewhere else without penalty, but you should sit down and let the park management know that is what you intend to do.
