More details to this question:
twenty years ago my dad and I bought a two family house. our concern at the time of purchase was that if either of us died we wanted ownership passed solely to the other person.that was told to the Lawyer we hired. my dad has since passed and I wanted to know what type of wording I should look for in my contract to ensure my position as sole owner of my house.

Are you speaking about your deed?  There is really nothing you need to do if the original deed between you and your dad was drawn up properly.  All you would need to prove you are the sole owner is the original deed (assuming you and your dad were listed as "joint tenants with right of survivorship") and his death certificate.
