QUESTION

Can I use my sons dedicated account for a car?

Asked on Jan 07th, 2021 on Social Security - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I need to take my son to his doctor appointments, and have it for his day trips and usual routine. My car just broke and I had to get it towed to a junkyard. Social Security is giving me a run around explanation telling me I would need a doctor note saying it is medically necessary but won’t tell me what it would need to say. Is there a way around the doctors note? Not having a car for his routine is affecting him

The doctor's note should not be a big issue.  It generally needs to just say that the child has a disabling condition that requires frequent doctor visits and the car is needed for that transportation. If SSA denies it, you can appeal to another SSA representative.
