QUESTION

Does achromatopsia alone qualify for ssi?

Asked on May 31st, 2015 on Social Security Disability - Ohio
More details to this question:
My child was recently diagnosed with achromatopsia after having an erg performed. He is not legally blind since his vision is 20/100. He can see some moving objects for example we can play football he can see the ball to catch once its close to him but he can't play baseball because he doesn't see the ball until its too late. I didn't know if there are stipulations on the achromatopsia or if the diagnosis is enough to qualify him.

Check listing 102.02(B). If your son meets or equals this listing, then he might be found disabled. You likely will need a letter from your son's eye specialist.
