How can I qualify for SSDI?

Asked on Jan 22nd, 2013 on Social Security - Illinois
More details to this question:
I am currently working but have had a chronic back condition. I am at the point of having to stop working since I cant straighten out when standing, walking slowly due to back pain. Afraid of not having any income (only income & 3 kids) what are the chances of being qualified.. would the chances worsen if I just quit?

You must medically prove and inability to do any kind of work that has lasted or is expected to last at least a year.  if you can medically do this you should proceed.  Note there is a deadline on each SSA disability case, you must file before your "date last insured expires". https://plus.google.com/116186901455773329273/posts
