QUESTION
I want to talk about disability
Asked on Sep 11th, 2020 on Social Security Disability - Maryland
More details to this question:
My whole life has been a constant struggle with medical issues that seem keep me in constant despair financially. I had Antiphospholipid syndrome in 2001 when I had a miscarriage. I found a MTHFR mutation gene when pregnant with my son Aidan in 2005. Around 2007 I had 3 TIA's (mini strokes). In 2008-09, I found connective tissue disease and Fibromyalgia. Now the biggie behind my slow deterioration is Lupus, found in 2010. Many Lupus flare ups are causing kidney issues, heart and lung issues, Liver and pancreas issues. The older I get the more things are deteriorating in my body and I find myself missing so much work I am in a serious financial hurricane. If I need to take time off of work, sometimes itโs not enough time to collect short term disability, but when it is, itโs never enough to cover my bills. Iโm finding that I cannot keep up with my health and medical issues while working at the same time. I want to know the process to receive disability.

Hi, you can apply on your own or you can hire an attorney. You need to expect to be out of work for 12 months or more.

You can apply online at www.ssa.gov. Please keep in mind that eligibility turns on whether due to a physical or mental illness or condition you can be expected to be unable to work for the next 12 months at any job, not just your current job.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
