QUESTION

Power of attorney

Asked on Jan 16th, 2021 on Social Security Disability - Texas
More details to this question:
Iโ€™m on SSI. my mother said Iโ€™m going to get some money when she passes away. SSI will take my check and insurance away if I get my inheritance. Can I get a trust or power of attorney over my finances to protect my inheritance? Itโ€™s not like itโ€™s going to be 100,000 dollars or anything... just a few thousand. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, I would look into an ABLE account through SSA.               Scott Bocchio, Esq. Legal Rights Advocates

A power of attorney will do you no good.  Try an account with ARC of Texas Master Piooled Trust or, if the amount is no more than $15,000, an ABLE Account (www.stable.org).  Be sure that the money is in one of these in the same calendar month in which it is received.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
