Applied to SSN retirement late Nov. and my retirement was $1000 and after answering all questions the representative told me it will be reduced by 40% cause I woerked for the federal govt for 23 years in my country Panama, Republic of Panama. I told her taxes were paid to Panama and that I was not a US citizen to pay taxes to USA and she responded there is a law that civil service retirees are affected by and my retirement has been reduced by 40% and I would like to have an explanation.
