If you are able to work, remind your employer of the Paycheck Protection Act, which may allow the employer to take you back and receive 8 weeks' wages. If you are unable to work, apply for benefits at www.ssa.gov.  The key is to be polite, persistent and thorough.  If you have to appeal to an administrative law judge, you will need a lawyer.  You can find one through the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
