Am I entitled to the overages?

More details to this question:
My grandmother died. Her home was in a tax lien sale for back taxes. There are overages. Her son who is my father is deceased. He was the only child of hers. She was not married and my father wasn't married and I'm his only son. Am I entitled to the overages? And do I need an attorney?
