More details to this question:
My wife and I went through an audit (yesterday) where we ended up leaving before it was finished due to the extreme rudeness of the IRS representative. Should we (when we go back) request a different auditor?

You can request another auditor, but do not wait until you go back. They will not make a change like that on a moment's notice.

You should file a complaint about the treatment and request another officer or supervisor. You should also have representation to assure you are not the offending parties.
