QUESTION

What should I do if tax was not returned on a refund?

Asked on Nov 29th, 2012 on Taxation - Ohio
More details to this question:
I got a refund on an extended warranty I bought when buying my new car for $1,000. I paid $1,070 (7% tax) but only received the non-taxed amount ($1,000). I can't believe this can be legal as they are no longer liable to pay the tax to the state. Thanks!

I would recommend you contact the company that sold you the extended warranty and insist that they? refund the sales tax to you. If they do not, then you can contact the Washington State Department of Revenue to report that they did not refund the sales tax and request that the Department investigate the matter.
