after i file an estate affadavit what comes next

More details to this question:
i'm worried if i file a small estate affadavit that i will be responsible for some of my fathers bills (my mom passed before him) he has 2 van payments / 1 is actually mine just is in his name due to bad credit for me he has a loan for house siding & some hospital bills that medicaid did not pay - my name is also on the house deed so they cant touch that right

You cannot personally be responsible for the bills. But, if there are assets, the bills need to be paid before you collect money.
