As the only living next of kin and there is no executor of the estate; do i have a legal right to change the locks on my fathers home?

My father has a home in another town than myself. He thought he had an executor of his estate, but it turned out that was false. So as my fathers only living child do i have the right change the locks on his house? I do have a step brother and his mother passed over a year ago and he was not appointed executor, but he seems to be taking control of the situation; i need to obtain control i believe given i am next of kin since my step mother has passed already?

If your stepbrother is also your father's child, he, too, is next of kin.
One of you needs to file for a determination of heirship and issuance of letters of administration. Contact a local probate attorney.
