QUESTION

Changing trust attorneys

Asked on Oct 13th, 2016 on Trusts and Estates - California
More details to this question:
I am the executor and power of attorney for a dear friend of mine that is currently sick and in the hospital. In 2011, I recommended an attorney to my friend to assist him in setting up a trust and will. I was reviewing the paperwork and it appears that their are mistakes, misspelled words, incorrect names from one document to the next. This particular attorney took over a year to complete all the paperwork and charged my friend over $10,000 for legal fees. The estate is very simple and there are no complicated transactions. I need to get the documents corrected and do not want to go through the waiting game nor expense with the previous attorney. What should my course of action be?

you should call the attorney. You may or may not have authority to sign an amendment to correct this, depending on how the documents are written.
