Death, no known will, how do we get information about any known rights?

More details to this question:
We were called two days after my son's father's death to sign cremation papers, my son was the surviving relative. The death was in Oregon, we live in Washington State.

Your son will be entitled to notice from the court of any probate proceedings relating to his father.
