QUESTION

Do I actually have unclaimed funds?

Asked on Dec 20th, 2020 on Estate Planning - Minnesota
More details to this question:
My mother passed away in 2014 and had a roth IRA. Her beneficiary was my aunt; however, she has not yet claimed the funds. I am my mothers oldest child and heir. A fund holder reporting company reached out to me and offered to help me obtain the funds, for a cost of 20%. Is this legit or can a lawyer assist me with going after the funds?

This sounds like a scam.  Your aunt should pressent a death certificate to the brokerage company to claim the Roth IRA.  If she never does, they pass to her children, not to you.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
