Do u need both parents present to start guardianship?

More details to this question:
My ex & I are divorced but we have joint guardianship of our son with special needs. I am the primary care giver, he resides with me. My son will be 21 in August. We live in Delaware county Pa burbs of Philly. What is the going rate for this service? Christine

If both of you can consent to the guardianship proceeding, that would be best but its not necessary.  You will need to give the other parent notice of the guardianship proceeding.
