My mother in law recently passed away. She, along with her sister in law and myself, are co-owners of three bank accounts. The sister in law would like to have her name removed from the accounts leaving only my name. Is this possible? Who pays the necessary inheritance taxes?
While your aunt can disclaim her inheritance, it is not as simple as just removing her name from the account. Please contact a probate attorney who practices in the county in which your mother in law died.
