QUESTION

How can I cash an estate check for $1000?

Asked on Nov 11th, 2014 on Estate Planning - Illinois
More details to this question:
The credit card my mom had has a positive balance of $1000 because we returned a door she ordered and no longer needs from her passing. We closed the account and they knew of her passing because of death certificate. They are sending the balance in a check form "to the estate of”. She left no will. What can we do? Without running around for such a small amount that might not come to us anyway?
