QUESTION

How can I determine what contents mean?

Asked on Sep 03rd, 2015 on Estate Planning - Indiana
More details to this question:
My partner of 23 years passed away and I was left and I quote from the will. The house and all contents given to me. All the residue and remainder, be it real, personal or mixed given to siblings. Per the lawyer, personal items such as cars, fishing poles, guns, papers such as tax returns, etc., are not included in the content. I have asked the lawyer to define etc., below is there response: "I really can’t define ETC because I don’t know what else is in the house. Possibly family heirlooms, family pictures, stock certificates, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, checks, bank statements." The most valuable items are the tools in the garage. Would these items be included in content? Please advise if I should retain a lawyer.
