How can my mother be the official executor?

Asked on Jan 21st, 2012 on Estate Planning - Texas
More details to this question:
My dad passed away in November and he had two wills: one his brother as executor and second my mom his ex wife as executor. When we talked to the attorney the other day, he told me my mom couldn't be the executor since they are divorced. How do we fix this and put my mother back as executor?

If he made your mom the executor after the divorce, then that's fine. The last written will should control.
