Amendments are done in the same manner as the trust was done. Some trusts will specify how they may be amended, so be certain to "follow the rules." The person who has the power to amend the trust, and the trustee of the trust, need to sign the amendment. If the original trust was notarized, the amendment should also be notarized. If the trust is "irrevocable" by its terms, it may nevertheless be amended under certain circumstances - often requiring court approval.
