Every legal answer usually begins with "It depends."  In the case of asking for the cost of a trust for a married couple, it depends upon the entire family picture - such as is this a first marriage and are there any children from previous marriages? and are any children currently or in the future possibly in need of state government assistance for their care?  Finally, is there any risk such as business ownership or professional services which create exposure to liability of the couple which might require a specialized trust structure to protect assets from liability exposures.  Finally, will you be relying upon the attorney to fund the trust or doing it yourself?  These are just a few of the details a proper trust construction consultation will consider before a price can even be discussed.  If an attorney quotes you a fee for a trust but has not gone through these sorts of details be sure he or she is not providing you a "one size fits all" document.  You should be paying for advice, insights and strategy, not just a document.
